Aaron started playing the piano at the early age of 6, classically trained by his father. But the discipline that it took to practice took the best of him after 8 years... he enjoyed jumping around too much. In the 7th grade Aaron spent a weekend with his brother at college, and was introduced to Guitar Hero. After hearing the amazing music that was on the game, he quickly realized what he needed to do. His first guitar was his late mother's Conrad Acoustic guitar from 1974 and loved playing it. He got his first electric guitar, for Christmas three months after he began playing. His father and brother taught him the basics of the guitar; chords, tuning etc... But Aaron learned the extent of his guitar ability from hours of practice, totally self taught. Aaron has recently become well known for the faces he makes while playing live. |
Ian began his music training when he was basically old enough to walk. His parents enrolled him in piano lessons going through several teachers a year. At the same time, he was enrolled in choir at school, loving every moment of it. His musical talent transferred to video games as well, playing Guitar Hero in a local church competition and winning. The first place prize was a Fender Telecaster and a month of free guitar lessons. After a few months of lessons, he dropped them, but had learned enough to get the ball rolling. He inherited his mother's old Fender Acoustic guitar and has been writing music ever since. |
Joel began playing drums at the age of 3 when his parents bought him a toy drum and immediately began laying down his first beat, going like, as he describes it, “boom-ti-kat-tikat-kat-ti-kat-ti-boom-ti-kat-tikat-kat-ti-kat-buh-boom”. When he was young, he was too short to reach the hi-hat and bass drum pedals, so until the age of 8 he played exclusively with his hands. As he got older, he took advantage of every opportunity he had to play drums; jazz band, pep band, concert band, marching band, everything. |
Ben has been the bassist for Lot 56 since Ian, Joel and Aaron realized that they needed a fourth member to fill up that empty sound in their music. Ben has since been an active member, helping write music and performing live with the band. |
